UIT Announces to Spend Rs. 250 crores in Year 2013-14

Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) will spend around Rs. 250 crores on various development works in Udaipur, declared today in the budget meeting for the year 2013-14. Straight forward an amount of Rs. 228 crores will be spent on various infrastructural development projects

In the budget meeting today, along with new projects, consideration was also given to those projects which are incomplete due to some or the other issues; ‘Khel Gaon’ is kept on priority so that the facility could be utilized, whereas construction of ‘Elevated Road’ will positively start in the current financial year.

According to Roop Kumar Khurana, Chairman, UIT, an amount of Rs. 15 crores will be spent on ‘Khel Gaon’ for its further development. Khurana mentioned that trust had invited applications under Public Private Partnership (PPP) which somehow failed, but this year the budget is allocated and applications for PPP will again be invited.

In further proceedings of budget meeting, proposed Elevated Road project was handed over to Larson & Turbo (L&T), which is also expected to initiate on construction in this very financial year, although the project report of the same is still pending.

In other proposals, Ring Road within city which is already started with its 1st Phase, the four lane road between Bhuwana Circle and Pratap Nagar Circle in its last stage; the 2nd Phase, a four lane between Pratap Nagar and Madri Circle will be started later this year after receiving No Objection Certificate (NOC) from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

Construction of Sewerage Treatment Plant in joint association with Hindustan Zinc will be complete to 70% by the end of this year, whereas Sewerage Network Project under NLCP is expected to be completed to 50% whereby sewerage lines will be connected to the main line from Hathipol so that sewerage could be taken to the treatment plant of HZL.

Besides all these major and minor proposals, the most important project of Ayad River was left apart, where officials gave a petty excuse of much discussed DPR (Detailed Project Report).
