According to District Collector Ashutosh Pednekar, these demolished houses are just 5% of the total encroachments done across city.  Similar drives will continue on other localities around town, as land encroachment has deteriorated the beauty apart from breaking laws across town.

Over the 14 hours encroachment drive, officials of UIT came across various shocking facts, in which house owners have encroached more than 1200 Sq Feet of Government land, while a large number of residents had erected houses against permission with most of the houses having no setback in the front elevation.

Ram Niwas Mehta, Secretary, UIT said, “as soon as we complete clearing ground for the proposed land, construction of road will begin, which is expected to be completed before 30th June.

Mehta added that on the present site, 5% work is left incomplete, which includes clearing left outs of demolished house from the locality.
