UIT demolished an old and weak building in Kumharon ka Bhatta area on Friday. There were chances of this building falling any time.

While widening the road from Kumharon ka Bhatta to Mali colony, UIT had demolished some part of this building as it was coming in the periphery of road. A part of the building was then left as is which was demolished this Friday.

Municipal Corporation and UIT have become alert regarding old and weak buildings. They want to take control of security situations before the arrival of monsoons. 38 such buildings have been marked by Municipal Corporation and notices have been issued to the relevant people. Directives have been issued to destroy the weak portions of buildings to keep the connected buildings safe from any danger in the future. Apart from these directives, water department and electricity department have been asked to disconnect water and electricity supplies from these buildings.

Action couldn’t be taken on some of the buildings as court’s proceedings are going on between owners and tenants. On the other hand, flood control centres have been established in UIT, Municipal Corporation and Water Resource department. District flood control centre has also been opened at Collector’s office.
