Udaipur, March 24: The infamous land allotment scam at the Udaipur Development Authority is now transcending into problems for the erstwhile Special Officer (OSD) Saavan Kumar Chayal. The state government is now initiating disciplinary action as Chayal, who was the OSD during the period when financial irregularities took place, in the  UDA which was then called the Urban Improvemment Trust (UIT).

The matter dates back to the period 2022-2024, when Chayal was serving in the UIT at Udaipur and as per the records and transactions then, he is accused of concealing and abetting financial irregularities in the audit report and illegal plan approvals related to land in Roopnagar, Nala Falan and Vada Dhikli areas under Bhuwana in Udaipurm which cause loss of revenue to the state.

The Urban Development & Housing Department (UDH) of the Govt of Rajasthan has instructed the Secretary of the UDA to send a proposal for disciplinary action against RAS Officer Saavan Kumar Chayal, who was the OSD, under Rule 16CCA, to the department immediately. Chayal is currently serving as the Dy Secretary in the Ayurveda Department and is posted at Jaipur.

In addition to the action against Chayal, the Dy Secy III, Rakesh Kumar of the  UDH has also sent a letter to the UDA Secrertary, where he has instructed the office to cancel the approved plan and the related allotment of land, as it goes against the rules. He has further asked for the matter to be informed to the District Collector and the Sub Registrar and the issuance of a public notice, to mitigate any disputes or cases related to such land(s) going forward. Order have also been passed to investigate other cases falling under this and for reports related to the same to be sent to UDH after getting approval from the Chairman of the UDA.
