Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) Udaipur continued hammering down illegal construction at Savina (Sector 9) near power house, where half a dozen earthmovers removed illegally constructed houses by the road sides.
The anti-encroachment drive started from Saturday and continued till Sunday evening. They demolished more than 50 houses and business of the locality. These were constructed over government land which was left out for road widening.
According to Ram Niwas Mehta, Secretary, UIT, “Residents of Raza Colony at Savina had occupied land meant for road construction. They were demolished after a notice was given to them a month ago. Since these houses and business were erected illegally, they are not liable for any financial compensation on account of Trust.”
The drive began from Saturday morning till late evening, which resumed on Sunday morning and concluded this evening. Stretch of around 900 meters by the sides was freed from encroachment.
Mehta added that there are more of such illegal construction across city, which will also be demolished in days to come.
