In the long awaited project to conserve the historic river of Ahar (Ayad), Municipal Corporation started the cleaning process of the lake side today. In the initial phase, all wild plants grown in the river basin and on the shores will be cleared, while the solid and liquid waste will be removed in the coming days.

According to Rajni Dangi, Mayor, UMC, “Corporation has deployed earth movers to clear unorganized plantation over side lines of river. The resources will be raised as and when required during the process.”

Dangi also said that district administration has allotted cleaning work to Municipal Corporation, in which the whole river stretch of nearly 27 Km starting from Thur Ki Paal till the end point in Udaisagar is included.

The Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) has already started working over sewerage diversion, in which construction of Trunk Line is under way. It will carry sewerage to main treatment plant at Manvakheda, while a few smaller treatment will be constructed near river, says sources.

Sources further add that construction is expected to complete before this rainy season, in which this trunk line would be connected to 9 manholes across city, so that disposal of waste in the river can be stopped.
