Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) paid Rs.18 lac to Forest Department for land proposed for Dhobi Ghat at Dudh Talai. The land will be now transferred to UMC along with orders for carrying out required construction.
Himmat Singh Barhath, Commissioner, UMC informed that UMC had proposed project of constructing Dhobi Ghat near Dudh Talai one year ago. The proposed land of Dhobi Ghat is under Forest Department, delayed decision over the land has postponed project implementation.
Barhath added that UMC planned out to provide a dedicated campus for washing clothes. It will divert people from washing clothes on the lake sides which adds pollution to water bodies. The project would be implemented under National Lake Conservation Project (NLCP).
Barhath further informed that one time installment for required land is been paid to forest department, in which amount of Rs.18 lac had been transferred. The construction would start soon after UMC receives required NOC (No Objection Certificate) from concerned department.
