Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) has demolished a decades old house, situated in the congested locality of Dholi Bawdi. The house, which was in a fragile condition, had become a bane to the residents living near the house. Following regular complaints, around a year back UMC had decided to ground the house, but the action was delayed due to a dispute prevailing among the family members.

Today, the UMC reacting over multiple complaints related to the fragile house situated in the densely populated area of Dholi Bawdi, demolished the house whose ownership apparently lies with 8 persons of the same family. It was locked for the past 16 years.

According to a resident of the area, in the year 2012, UMC demolished the front elevation, but due to some technical reasons and a family dispute, it failed to uproot the entire structure. Over the year this house has suffered major wear n tear, increasing the risks and dangers resulting from its sudden and natural collapse and hygiene as well.

According to Himmat Singh Bharth, Commissioner, UMC, there are some more such properties across town, especially in the old town area, which are at high risk of natural collapse. The Corporation, thus, is looking at demolishing these houses after notifying the owner.

Himmat Singh added that the Corporation would be taking legal actions against owners of fragile houses in which demolition is hindered either due to prevailing family disputes of loss of life of any owner.
