Since the administration is working on the beautification of the city, the common trend of illegal advertisement has become one of the biggest challenges for the authorities, with every corner, street and city circle covered with advertisement banners, posters and bills.

UMC has decided to crack down on the offenders. According to the information received by an official, there is a provision of a fine for 60000 rupees and 6 months jail for anyone who damages government property or degrades the beauty of the city under the law pertaining to the destruction of beauty and government property.

61 challans (payment receipts) were handed over to more than 60 such offenders.

An expert who doesn’t want to be named said that illegal advertisement is also like a nexus. Since advertising through ethical way is a long and expensive process, people approach those who advertise in alternate ways, usually illegally.
