Mamta Sharma, Chairperson of National Commission for Women has addressed a high level meeting regarding the shocking incident of stripping a woman at Kolar village of Sarada after tying her to a tree on 22 July.

Sharma was speaking with the special inquiry committee she made to gather facts about the incident. Mamta Sharma has said that a Fast Track Court has agreed to begin the prosecution trial to provide justice to the victimized woman.

It is also decided to take this confrontation under the Case Officer’s Scheme to proceed further immediately.

Many other orders and resolutions were talked of in the presence of various high level officials including members of the commission, Professor Dr. Vijaylaxmi Chauhan and Lata Choudhary, Members of State Women Commission.

The meeting was held at circuit house, where the Women Commission talked immensely on the case where a married woman and a man (not her husband) were manhandled by villagers. During the episode, the woman was held confined, beaten and stripped in front of all villagers.

The commission has solicited the victim to take action on the basis of 357 Act of CRPC. They also requested to provide medical aid through consultation with a psychiatric as the victim is mentally upset.

T.C Damor, IG, Udaipur Range, Hemant Gera, District Collector, Hari Prasad Sharma, Superintendent of Police, B.R Bhati, Additional District Magistrate, Sudhir Joshi, Additional S.P and Shewta Fagedia, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Children Development were present at the meeting.

The Commission was shocked to know that when the victim’s husband could not find her wife from last 15 days then why didn’t he lodged a Missing Persons Complaint with Police and why he took law in his own hands.
