In order to timely roll-out the Central Government directive of ‘Direct Cash Transfer’ from 1st January, a workshop will be organized by the Rural Congress Committee tomorrow on 25th December at RMV School (Rajasthan Mahila Vidhyalaya). The workshop will begin at 11:00 am and continue for the whole day.
Direct Cash Transfer (DTC) Scheme is an initiative of Central Government whereby any amount payable by Government to an individual, shall be directly transferred into the beneficiaries’ bank account, which is ultimately linked with his/her Unique Identification Card (Aadhar Card).
The conference tomorrow will be carried out under the presidency of Lalit Singh Jhala, District President of Rural Congress Committee. Along with, R. R. Tiwari, District Congress Secretary; many leaders, MPs, MLAs, Ward Representatives and others will form part of this workshop.
On 14 Dec. a meeting of District Presidents of Congress Committee was held under the chairmanship of National General Secretary Rahul Gandhi; Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Union Rural Development Minister Jayram Ramesh. It was intimated in this meeting the District Presidents must hold workshops in their respective territories for effective and efficient implementation of DTC.
It is intended that by merging the DTC scheme with that of Unique Identification (Aadhar) Card, possibilities of financial frauds will reduced and timely payments of MNAREGA, Subsidies etc. would be possible. The government has made it clear that money will be transferred to beneficiaries only when they provide Aadhar Card and correspondingly registered bank account number.
Rural Congress spokesman Hemant Shrimali said that, it has all been set up as per the instructions from Rahul Gandhi in his workshop at Delhi. He also told that block meetings will also be organized after this meeting and block targets will be decided by Lalit singh Jhala and R. R. Tiwari.
