Udaipur to Celebrate 150 Years of Vande Mataram from Jan 23

Udaipur District Collector reviews preparations for celebrations marking 150 years of Vande Mataram, featuring school and cultural events, exhibitions and patriotic performances

Udaipur, Jan 22 - District Collector Namit Mehta chaired a preparatory meeting regarding various programmes and activities to be organised in the second phase, starting Friday (January 23), on the occasion of the completion of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram.

Collector Mehta instructed that all activities should be organised keeping in view the slogans Mantra of Freedom – Vande Mataram and Mantra of Prosperity – Atmanirbhar Bharat. He emphasised that a sense of patriotism should resonate among every citizen of the district and the echo of Vande Mataram should be heard everywhere.

January 23 also marks the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. On this occasion, Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) will be organised in more than 3,000 schools across the district, during which all six verses of Vande Mataram will be collectively sung. Instructions were also given to conduct collective singing of Vande Mataram in non-government organisations, senior citizen groups, colleges, hostels, social institutions and orphanages.

On January 24, competitions such as essay writing, debates, quizzes, rangoli and painting will be held in all schools and colleges. On January 25, cultural evenings based on the theme of Vande Mataram will be conducted. A Vande Mataram-themed exhibition will be held on January 25 and 26 at the Information Centre, Mohta Park, Udaipur. Audio-video booths and selfie points will be set up at major tourist locations.

On January 26, collective singing of Vande Mataram will take place during cultural programmes at all block headquarters, gram panchayats and schools and colleges. The police band will present patriotic performances based on Vande Mataram and other patriotic songs at Fateh Sagar.

All sub-divisional and block-level officers of the district participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
