Residents conscious of lake conservation contributed voluntarily and cleaned up 3 tonnes of garbage from Bari Ghat, Lake Pichhola. UIT will start repair work on this Ghat from Monday onward.
Earlier, concerned citizens contributed and bought shovel and other cleaning equipment for cleaning up the lake. The garbage removed also had various contaminating elements and were well removed.
Manav Singh, member of the Youth wing and a participant in the cleaning exercise, appealed to fellow Udaipurites to partner in cleaning expeditions. Tej Shankar Paliwal, another participant, urged speed in cleaning up of Fateh Sagar and Pichhola before rains set in.
The participants also urged shopkeepers and hoteleers around the lake not to dispose off polythene and other contaminants into the lake. Participants also raised anger and concern over recent dumping of garbage by Hotel Leela in lake Pichhola
