Ayurveda College Students on Strike
Students of Ayurveda College, Udaipur boycotted regular classes today in order to protest against the suspension of PG and PhD scholars belonging to Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh and the proposed amendment to the Gazette of CCIM.
Students of Ayurveda College, Udaipur boycotted regular classes today in order to protest against the suspension of PG and PhD scholars belonging to Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh and the proposed amendment to the Gazette of CCIM.
The protest was held by the National AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yog & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) Student Association. The students protested against the proposed minimum standards of education in the new Ayurveda Colleges and affiliated hospitals and have asked for withdrawing the proposal in the favor of Ayurveda Science.
In a letter to the Secretary, Ayurveda Department, the reasons for the strike was elaborated and a call revoking the above mentioned decisions as they would be unfavorable to the science of Ayurveda.
They said, “The government has made a mockery of us by issuing the orders of reducing the vacancies of Professors in Ayurveda colleges, decreasing the ratio of patients in Ayurveda colleges and inspecting the college once in five years.
Students said that 56 lecturers have been removed so far and the future of the PG students is in the dark as well.
They requested the government to solve the whole matter, considering the future of the youth. They further indicated that if no positive outcome was observed a national movement would commence.
