A three day Film Festival dedicated to children will start from Nov 12, 2011 at R Kay Mall Udaipur. The event will mark the birthday of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru on 14 November 2011 which is popularly known as Children’s Day.

The event is organized by Children’s Film Society, India in contribution with R Kay Mall Udaipur. A total of 12 films will be shown from 12 pm to 6 pm in four shows.

Everyday 4 shows of one and a half hour will bring to kids 12 films in three days and the most interesting thing is that kids will watch these movies free of cost. The schedule of the movies is as follows:

12 Nov. 2011 Asman se Gira Choo Lenge Aakash Chutkan ki Mahabharat Ek Ajuba
13 Nov. 2011 Hungama Bombay Style Udan Chu Rhino Yeh Hai Chakkad Bakkad
14 Nov. 2011 Rikkiy Tikkiy Tavi Nani Maa Charandas Chor Chota Paisa

“All the films that will be shown give a moral message. The chosen films have been awarded at either national or international level,” said Chetan Chouhan, a representative from Children’s Film Society.

This festival is taking place in 15 cities across India. Udaipur is the only fortunate city to have it in Rajasthan. The show will consist of 80-100 seats. Children will be allowed on the first come first serve basis.

“Shows are strictly for children, parents are not allowed inside. Special show may be arranged if there is a large gathering,” said Chetan

Not only films will be shown in the festival but a special workshop on film making is also scheduled on Sunday 13 Nov.

A well known stage artist and actor Deepak Dixit has volunteered to organize this workshop free of cost. It will last for about 45 mins in which parents are also allowed with children.

“Films for kids are less in number; if awareness of this is not spread among the young masses, progress might not be seen. Kids tend to be more curious about things. These lectures will give them an insight about the dimensions of film making,” Deepak Dixit said.

Dipesh Kothari of R Kay Mall informed, “Special shows are there for kids of Orphanage and N.G.Os. We have already contacted some of the organizations.”

Children’s Film Society was formed by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the year of 1955 and it produces feature and short animation movies.
