CPS Students Won National Level Singing Competition

A group of students from Udaipur has won the National Level singing competition held at Adhyatam Sadhna Kendra in New Delhi on November 3, 2011.

A group of students from Udaipur has won the National Level singing competition held at Adhyatam Sadhna Kendra in New Delhi on November 3, 2011.

10 students from Central Public School (CPS), Udaipur gave tough competition to more than 30 teams who had come from all over India to participate in the 12th Anuvrat Natik Singing Competition and finally grabbed the 1st position in junior level group song competition.

The competition that was organized by Akhil Bhartiya Anuvrat Nyas, a Delhi based NGO primarily indulged in various activities to encourage students.

Team of Udaipur students from classes V to VIII was accompanied by 3 music teachers to perform in Delhi for the final round after clearing regional and state level competitions. The team was honored by Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheela Dixit with a memento and a cash prize of Rs.21000.

CPS will organize a welcome ceremony on Nov 5, to honor the team and the teachers. CPS administrator Sunil Babel said, “The welcome function is to honor and motivate the group and other students too.”

The winning team consists of students Nishad Pandey (Harmonium Player) , Himaja Pandey, Harija Pandey, Kshama Pandey, Richa Ahari, Ranu Jain, Gunjal Bagrecha , Lavish Chittora, Bhuwan Sharma and Pragya Bhatnagar.

The teachers who accompanied them were Avadh Kishore Pandey (Music Director) Narayan Gandharv (Dholak Player) and Rajesh Kishore ( Tabla Player)

Nishad who played harmonium told UT, “Everyone there really liked our song, the auditorium was filled with the rounds of applauds before we could complete the last snippet of the song.”

Avadh Kishore Pandey, the music teacher said, “The competition was fought among 37 teams of junior level (under 14). To reach such a high level and then winning is a great moment for all of us and the credit goes to our Director, Alka Sharma for continuous support and encouragement.”

Excited Harija informed us, “We got a standing ovation from the audience and we also got chocolates from the judges.”
