Cycle Marathon to Honor Scottish Cyclist, Activist

Forest Department of Udaipur is holding a cycle marathon on Tuesday, 4th December, to honor a Scottish tourist Dennis Davies who cycled 12 countries in last 7 and half months. The marathon will start from Forest Department’s office opposite Mohta Park at Chetak at 7.00am.

Forest Department of Udaipur is holding a cycle marathon on Tuesday, 4th December, to honor a Scottish tourist Dennis Davies who cycled 12 countries in last 7 and half months. The marathon will start from Forest Department’s office opposite Mohta Park at Chetak at 7.00am.

Dennis, 27-year-old Scottish national, is a social activist, cyclist and environmentalist. He started his journey on cycle from Greece and covered countries of Europe and Asia. Dennis reached Udaipur on 2nd December 2012.

According to Dr. N.C Jain, Chief Forest Officer, the idea of organizing marathon was pooped up in a casual meeting which was held between few cycling enthusiasts of the city with forest officials and Dennis Davies.

Cycle Marathon is open for all the cyclists of city.

“He is young, enthusiastic and strong person and we planned to organize a marathon to honor Dennis and also to increase awareness of cycling among citizens of Udaipur”, said Dr. N.C Jain.

While talking about the meeting, Dr. Jain also said that, “we had short but valuable discussion with Dennis yesterday; he told us that many countries he visited have started a new trend of marking last Friday of the month as Cycle Day.”

Dennis started his journey with a few of his friends many of whom have already reached India and are travelling in different cities.
