Touched by the miserable condition of underprivileged children as well as children who are suffering from cancer, four people from the corporate world of Mumbai decided to raise funds by cycling from Mumbai’s Gateway of India to India` Gate, Delhi.

“Cycling 4 Change” being the mission statement, four cyclists viz. Anil Uchil, Ranjul Goswami, Malikarujn Singh and Bertrum Fonseca reached Udaipur yesterday on 11th March as part of their 2000 km cycle journey from Mumbai to Delhi. The group came in to Udaipur through Rishabhdev and will stay in the city till 13th March.

Anil Uchil, a 32-year-old corporate communications professional from Mulund told UT about their mission and how the cycling project started. “It’s been a year since we came to know about two different organizations Cankids and Magicbus, both dedicated to children. Cankids works for children suffering from cancer and Magicbus helps underprivileged children by providing sports equipment.”

“As we all are passionate about cycling, the idea of raising the funds by cycling from Mumbai to Delhi was conceptualized and today we have covered nearly half of the journey” said Anil, in a telephonic conversation with UT.

The group rides more than 100 km every day; they are also assisted by their friend Rohan Jatchana who is driving a Jeep, carrying necessary things for all of them.

While Anil is in corporate communications, Ranjul is in Banking, Malikarjun is into adventure and Bertrum is an IT professional. All are based in Mumbai. Besides raising funds for children, Anil and his team are also promoting cycling for a better environment and better health.

The group is meeting social organizations, NGOs, common people and authorities to spread their message. They are also actively using social media tools to raise funds. Anil said, “We have created a facebook fan page https://www.facebook.com/Cycling4Change that is the best and easiest way to keep track on our tour as we keep it updated with notes and photos, we have also put links on how someone can help us in raising funds.”

The group expects to reach Delhi by 24th of March; till now they have raised nearly Rs.6 lakh though their target is above Rs.10 Lakh. All the fund collected will be given to Cankids and Magicbus.
