On the eve of World Dance Day on 29^th April, today a Classical Music Function and Music Awards evening was organized by the Kala Aashram College of Performing Arts at Darpan Auditorium, Shilpgram.

The disciples of Dr. Saroj Sharma, Director, Kala Aashram College gave a performance on the Fusion Dance form.  It was emphasized later during the function that the healing power of Yoga and Meditation can be combined with that of Dance, to attain Nirvana.  The inception and significance of classical dance forms Natraaj and Taandav were also elucidated.   

76 students of Kala Aashram presented breathtaking performances of Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Contemporary Dance, Ashtang Yoga, Meditation Yoga, Chanting of Mantras, Musical Instruments and Classical Singing.  They’ve been practicing for the past one year to make this performance a success.

World Dance Day is an Annual event, which is celebrated on 29^th April in the memory of Jean Georges Noverre, renowned Ballet and Dance Teacher from France.  Today’s event by Kala Aashram was all about adopting dance form as a part of life and to be aware of its health and healing powers.

The renowned ‘Maand’ singer, Dr. Mangi Bai; Dr. Prem Bhandari, reputed Ghazal Singer, Jagdish Verma, well-known Tabla Player and Shyam Mali of the Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal were honored for their contributions in the field.

Kala Aashram College of Performing Arts is run by Kala Aashram Foundation.  The College is affiliated to the Bharatkhande Music Vidhyapeeth, Lucknow and Prayag Music Committee, Allahabad.  Claasical Dance, Kathak, Classical Singing and Instruments are the courses offered by the same.
