Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat Udaipur General Election Concludes Successfully

12th General Council Elections of the reformist Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat Udaipur concluded successfully at Community Hall, Bohrawadi on 3rd August.

Young candidate, Ashiq Hussain Magar secured the highest (982) Votes of the 1358 ballots cast.

As informed by Nasir Javed, Election Convener, the voting had taken place from 8am till 4pm on Sunday, 2nd August at the Bohra Youth Public School, Bohrawadi and the Ballot Counting procedures were held on 3rd August at the Community Hall in Basti Ram Ji Ki Badi.

As per Nasir, out of a total of 3,400 voters listed, the total ballots cast were 1,358.  Approximately 1,000 voters are currently residing out of Udaipur due to professional reasons, with a large part of them being outside India.  Of those present in town, the turnout was as expected.

The Voting, which started at 8AM on 2nd August saw trickle of voters during the earlier part of the day, which converted to a higher walk-in towards afternoon.  Candidates were seen promoting their candidature in Bohrawadi region.

Election Convener Nasir Javed said that the ballot counting began on 3rd August at 9AM at the Community Hall and results were announced at 5PM the same day.  21 Candidates were finally elected of the 31 candidates contesting the Elections.  Out of the 1358 Ballots, 30 Ballot papers were rejected due to Minimum-Maximum Vote limits being violated.  15 Ballot papers were identified as NOTA.

Certificates were awarded to the Elected Candidates in the evening at the Ballot Counting Centre.
