Many renowned Environmentalists, Social Activists, Lake Conservators and Educationists from the city participated in the event and shared their views on the biological diversity in Udaipur region.

The conference summarized the collective viewpoint on ecological imbalance caused due to destruction of water bodies.

Exemplifying the Ayad River’s current scenario, experts said that the river is subjected of illegal encroachment and pollution, besides this, the constant dropping of water level in lakes raises the threat to biological diversity of the ancient river of Udaipur.

Seminar was organized in the joint association of Forest Conservator (North), Nature wing of Vidya Bhawan, Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust and India Water Partnership.

Keynote Speaker K.K. Garg, Chief Forest Conservator, said that extensive cutting of forests has created alarming situation for the several species of flora and fauna. “We have to conserve lakes, rivers and biological diversity. Accordingly, a Biodiversity Park will be founded near Chirwa Valley.”

Professor Arun Chaturvedi said that the urban pollution of the city is threatening the biodiversity in comparison to the population residing in rural and tribal belt.

“Constructing boundaries on the lakes of Udaipur will make it like a swimming pool which will threat the bio diversity”, said Professor Dr. P.R. Vyas.

Experts also talked about the social and public awareness to safeguard the environment of Udaipur region.

Deependra Singh Shaktawat, Researcher, Anil Mehta, Lake Scientist and others shared their thoughts on the issue.

A photo exhibition was also held at Fateh Sagar paal today morning. Number of photos and posters spreading the message of Save Environment, Save Biodiversity was showcased in the pathway opposite to the paal.
