On the occasion of the World Heritage Day, a function was organized at the Pratapnager campus of Janardhan Rai Naagar Rajasthan University (Deemed).

On the occasion of the World Heritage Day, a function was organized at the Pratapnager campus of Janardhan Rai Naagar Rajasthan University (Deemed).

 At 9 am today morning, the 5,000 page brochure summarizing the work done on Archaeological Heritage of India, Hadappa was released.  On this occasion, Chancellor of JRN Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Honorable Bhavani Shankar Garg; Vice Chancellor, Prof. Divya Prabha Naagar; Prafull Naagar; Prof. Toshiki Osadan from the Institute of Humanity and Nature, Kyoto, Japan and the Director of the Gujarat State Archaeological department, Dr. Ravat jointly released the document.

 The brochure is the result of a 6 month long documentation activity that was handed over to the University by the government.  This work was carried out by the Institute of Rajasthan Studies – History department, JRNRV based on the decade long excavation and survery effort done by the archaeologists in the team on the Hadappa Civilization at Kaanmer and other places bearing signs of the Hadappa civilization in Rajasthan, Haryana and Gujarat.

This book comprising of detailed information on the Stone Age, Copper age, Iron Age, Historical Age and Medieval Age has also been sent to the Archaeological Department of India, New Delhi.

 Further, the 5,000 page brochure can now be quoted by historians and research scholars as prudent, valid and well researched information is available in the document.  Work on preparation of the document was carried out by Dr. Hasmukh Seth, K.P. Singh, Rohit Menariya, Narayan Paliwal, Hitesh Bunkar and Shoyeb Kureshi under the directions of Dr. Jeevan Singh Kharakwal.

 Along with the release function, a short seminar on the Heritages of Udaipur and India as a whole was also organized at the Pratap Nagar Campus of Rajasthan Vidhyapeeth

The members also spoke on means and methods to protect the Historical Monuments from getting destroyed in today’s age of rapid urbanization.

 About Kaanmer

 Kaanmer is a small village in the Kutch region of Gujrat, where an ancient township was uncovered by a team of members from Rajasthan Vidhiyapeeth, Archaeological Department of the State of Gujarat and the Institute of Humanity and Nature, Koyoto (Japan) between years 2005 to 2009.  The excavation was was carried out in under the joint auspices of Dr. Jeevan Singh Kharakwal, Y.S Rawat and Prof. Toshiki Osada.
