In an unfortunate incident that occurred today, a 3-year-old girl was left abandoned outside the MB Hospital Maternity ward in a Cot installed by the Mahesh Ashram, which adopts kids in this type of situation.
The misfortunate girl child was discovered by the hospital authorities at 3:15 P.M. and was immediately taken for a complete medical checkup. After she was considered medically fit, the child was then transferred to Mahesh Ashram, Chitrakoot Nagar.
Mahesh Ashram is owned and managed by an NGO Maa Bhagwati Vikas Sansthan and takes care of abandoned kids. The 3 year old girl will be the 21st child to join the Ashram.
This act highlights the adverse situation of certain backward societies where a boy child is still preferred over a girl child. Even after all the efforts by various people, NGOs and government, it is sad to see such incidents take place time and time again.
The Child Sex Ratio has fallen down from 909 girls in 2001 to 883 girl to 1000 boys in the state with the condition continuing to deteriorate at an alarming pace.
