Waswo and Rajesh Soni was inaugurated by Prof. Jyotindra Jain, Director of Sanskriti Foundation, New Delhi in the presence of H.H. Arvind Singh Mewar at Bhagwat Prakash Photo Gallery at Zenana Mahal in the City Palace museum today.
Nearly 100 pictures are kept on display with magnificent work of hand colouring on black and white photographs. The photographs are coloured so naturally that it’s tough to make out if these pictures were actually not coloured. Among these snaps a few are of the ancestors of the royal families.
Waswo X. Waswo along with Rajesh Soni and Pramod Kumar KG guided the dignitaries to the exhibition and explained the details of every portrait in the Gallery.
Most of the pictures are painted by Rajesh Soni while the photographs are taken by Waswo. Rajesh said, “I painted these photos without taking any reference; the idea of colours came naturally, inspired by our daily life.”
Waswo X. Waswo is an American artist, photographer and writer who came to India 10 years back and is working with Udaipur based artist, Rajesh Soni from past 7 years. He said, “You can find that a few of our works in this exhibition reflect the basic, everyday life style of a common Indian.”
The exhibition was organized by MMCF (Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur) with the aim to promote tradition and culture of Rajasthan.
