The Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) and the Health Institute for Mother and Child (MAMTA) will implement a three-year long community health project in Udaipur, Rajasthan as well as in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

The programme hopes to improve diagnosis and management of diabetes and heart disease.

Reportedly, a high number of people in Udaipur are suffering from high blood pressure or diabetes may not have been diagnosed due to low awareness levels. Health workers face a shortage of essential equipment such as blood pressure cuffs and glucometers.

These NGOs have been selected by Medtronic Philanthropy to implement this project named ‘HealthRise India’.

The focus will be on people who either cannot afford care or physically access treatment. Medtronic Philanthropy is funding the $1 million project.
