Indian President to Visit Pratap Memorial at Chawand

Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, the Honorable President of India, will be paying homage at the Memorial of Maharana Pratap, situated at Bandoli near Chawand in Sarada Tehsil of Udaipur District on Tuesday 10th January; the function is organized by Akhil Bhartiya Pratap Seva Sangh.

The governor of Rajasthan Shivraj Patil and the Chief Minister of the state, Ashok Gehlot are also expected to accompany the President on this occasion.

According to the President of Pratap Sewa Sangh, Manohar Singh Krishnawat, the President will first visit Chawand where Maharana Pratap took his last breath; the event will be followed by her visit to Bandoli where Maharana Pratap’s cerement canopy is situated. The function was earlier scheduled on 21st September 2010 but was cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Pratibha Patil is the first President to visit the Memorial of Rana Pratap after India got its independence.

In a press conference today, Rawat Manohar Singh Krishnawat, the President of Akhil Bhartiya Pratap Seva Sangh said, “we are honored that the President accepted our invitation and is coming to pay a visit at Pratap Memorial. We want people to respect the actual work done by Pratap; merely visiting the statue of patriots is not enough. “

Beside Mahatma Gandhi, the only statue at present at Parliamentary House is that of Maharana Pratap. He was the first one to establish democracy 400 years back in India.

Akhil Bhartiya Pratap Seva Sangh is a social community which brings together people with patriotic feelings and is working towards spreading the values, morals and nationalistic sentiments that were present in Maharana Pratap.
