Infant with rare physical disorder seeks treatment
6 months old baby girl, Ranjana has rare physical disorder since birth as the lower back of her head has an extra ordinary growth; many doctors have refused to treat the child either due to technical trouble in resolving the case or because parents of the child could not bear the expenses of surgery.
An exceptional two headed baby has become the centre of attraction at one of the private hospitals in Udaipur.
6 months old baby girl, Ranjana has rare physical disorder since birth as the lower back of her head has an extra ordinary growth; many doctors have refused to treat the child either due to technical trouble in resolving the case or because parents of the child could not bear the expenses of surgery.
Father of the child, Sriram Bagel and mother Munni Bai has come from Khadiyar village in Murena district, Madhya Pradesh.
They were told by someone about Narayan Seva Sansthan in Udaipur who might help them in treating the child but the organization refused to do so. The disappointed parents then came to Udaipur Hospital where the child is admitted but expenses of surgery still remain the biggest obstacle for parents.
6 months old Ranjana’s lower head is growing like a tumor and her parents are worried about life of their innocent child. Sriram is a farmer and is hardly able to meet his family’s daily need.
“When Ranjana was born her lower head was bigger than upper one but we took it normal and hoped it will get normal as she will grow but it started growing abnormally fast which worried us,” says Sriram.
Dr. Bipin Baxi, Senior Consultant and Orthopedic Surgeon has informed that this physical disorder is called Encephalocele which is found in one among hundred thousand births. “I am trying to operate this child as soon as possible and if not treated soon it could be fatal,” said Dr. Baxi.
The doctors in Udaipur Hospital have quoted the expense of surgery to be around Rs. 1-1.25 lacs which is too much for the poor parents. Although some NGOs have turned up but no fruitful results have been achieved yet.
