Jagannath Rath Yatra is held every year on Ashadh Shukl Dwitiya of Vikram Samvat as per Hindu calendar. This year it will be held on 25th June on Sunday. Devotees pull Lord Jagannath’s chariot chanting Hare Krishna all the way completely immersed in devotion. The yatra dates back to over 2000 years which originated in Jagannath Puri . People sing and dance in ecstasy.
Udaipur holds the 3rd largest Rath yatra in India. The Rath is a gigantic structure approximately 15 feet long and 8 feet high adorned with silver. It turns into a huge procession with devotees joining on the path as the rath/chariot travels by.
The city always witnesses people singing and dancing praises in the name of Lord Jagannath. Devotees also arrange for water on the way for the procession followers. Roads are cleaned by people irrespective of caste and creed. This shows that the entire city enjoys this devotional procession with enthusiasm.
Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra Committee released a poster this evening at 6 at Jagdish Temple inviting all to attend the Rath Yatra. Among the people present on the occasion were Dr. Pradeep Kumawat, Kamlendra Singh Panwar, Shiv Singh Solanki and many others.
