Disappointment and depression subdued the enthusiasm of the long waiting local press and media people, when the scheduled Press Conference to be held at SIERT office, Saheli Marg where Shakira as an ambassador of UNICEF was about to address media, was canceled.

More than a few dozen reporters were seen waiting for more than 2 hours outside the SIERT office, expecting to catch a glimpse, photos and a few words from the UNICEF Ambassador and Pop icon, Shakira. After a long wait, Shakira arrived along with the UNICEF team and gave a smiling gesture but she was not ready to interact with the media.

We ask, that if joining the Birthday celebrations was the only reason that Shakira came to Udaipur, then why the farce in the name of the so-called Press Conference towards the Social-Cause.

 The media, although much disappointed, will still say, thank you to Geetanjali, who is the representative of UNICEF, on behalf of our local media who were all there to participate as representatives of the people of Udaipur. When UT looked to clarify the incident, Geetanjali told our correspondent, “I apologize for the mistake and pain you and other media persons went through, though we had already informed the assigned PR that there will be no Press Conference but due to lack of coordination and time, the message reached to only a few media houses”.
