After being host to many a Royal Weddings, Udaipur, further elaborates its flamboyance, as the icing on the cake for the Lake City goes to the Birthday Bash to celebrate the 80^th Birthday of Real Estate Tycoon Kush Pal Singh, Chairman of DLF, the World’s largest Real Estate Company.

The Jag Mandir Palace was selected as the venue to celebrate this much-talked and much-hyped birthday celebration, which essentially have been going on for a few months now.

Many National and International celebrities were invited; many of them reached Udaipur a day before and the remaining today, while some, unfortunately, could not make it.

The Columbian Pop icon, Shakira was one among hundreds of renowned personalities who attended the birthday of the 80-year old construction mogul. Shakira reached Udaipur on 14 November by a special chartered flight. Dozens of other charters landed today, bringing with them many more political, showbiz, media and business personalities.

Dabok’s Maharana Pratap Airport was packed with onlookers, bodyguards and luxurious sedans. Dudh Talai (from where Jag Mandir Palace can be viewed clearly) in the meanwhile, was choc-a-bloc as thousands of locals were seen waiting to catch a glimpse of the personalities that had come in to participate in the event. What enthralled the audience the most were the shining lights glittering over Lake Pichola.

The much anticipated ‘Shakira fever’ gripped social network sites  – with rumors, fake pictures, frequently altered updates, a mix of true as well as false news updates and many even changed their profile picture on global social networking sites with Shakira’s image.

Being used to regularly migrating birds and hosting such functions all year long, Udaipur might, in time, forget this strictly private event but I am sure, Kush Pal Singh will remember this as one of his most beautiful birthdays.

Though Udaipur would like to remember this as the Birthday Celebrations of K.P. Singh more than the arrival of Shakira; we at Udaipur, however, look forward to welcoming Shakira to perform Live for the beautiful people of Udaipur.
