Hundreds of community workers prepared mass communal feast (langar) today which was prepared jointly by the men, women and children of Sikh community. The day started with various social and religious rituals which were followed by Langar that started in the afternoon.
The auspicious day of Guruparab, the birthday of Guru Nanak has been celebrated splendidly by the Sikh community of Udaipur as Guru Nanak Jayanti. The festival marks the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev.
The preparations had already started a week before and the Gurudwaras of the city witnessed a number of devotees coming every day for ardaas (prayers) and processions.

In the evening a small fair was held outside the Sikh colony Gurudwara, Udaipur. Besides all regular functions and processions, a Blood Donation camp was also organized by Sachkhand Darbar Gurudwara Committee in which many people took part.
The day is remarkable not only as the birthday of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism but it also has an exceptional effect to unite the community and spread harmony.
Sikhs in Udaipur are considered as one of the most prosperous community; primarily indulged in big and small business.
