Poll Update: Udaipur demands Police in Civilian Clothes as action to Curb Eve Teasing

The results of the last week’s poll conducted at the website are out! The question raised was regarding the sudden upsurge of eve teasing cases in Udaipur and what could be the immediate action to curb this horrendous act.

According to the votes gathered by the readers of UT, more than 30% people demanded that there should be police deployed in civilian clothes at various places where the incidences of eve teasing is at a rise. Devising this step may make prone areas less susceptible to eve teasing.

Next in line with 27% vote is the suggestion where police regularly patrols each area. Such secured vigilance will make the eve teasers refrain to take any step.

Many people showed their angst by voting for immediate arrest based on complaints. Almost 23% people demanded arrest of eve teasers based on any complaint received by the police. A lot of time goes about in investigating the matter which gives an advantage to the eve teasers to use unscrupulous ways to hide their misdeeds.

An equal weight age was given to other options to spread awareness through rally and launching SOS woman help care number by the police. Almost 7% residents believed that this is an unsolved problem and will pertain in the city.

Not going by the magnitude of the votes but people’s skepticism towards the act of eve teasing going unresolved in a city like Udaipur is a shame. While the Lakecity is making news almost every day with its development, progress, smart initiatives and its grandeur, the problems of eve teasing is an issue that needs immediate strict action to curb it, for the safety of woman.
