Rotary Club of Udaipur (Heritage) has taken a noble initiative to help the drugs addicts by setting up 10 days free-of-cost rehabilitation camp at Sukh Sagar Palace.

Registrations for the camp will begin at Sukh Sagar Palace from 21st Dec followed by a thorough medical checkup of the interested applicants and only first 35 patients who are suffering from the habit of taking drugs will be treated at this camp.

A team of 10 expert doctors and physiatrists from Manaklaav Ashram of Jodhpur will atend the drug addicts. Manaklaav Ashram is working for the same cause since 1983.

Anubhav Ladia, President of Rotary club of Udaipur, Heritage said, “The success rate of this camp is expected to be high. 70-75% of people are completely cured of the addiction in 10 days of such camps organized before by Manaklaav Ashram. And the rest 30% develop a faith in doctors and try again. “

Besides medicine, various activities are an integral part of the camp which will help the participants to keep their mind off the drugs.

The aspirants interested in the camp will have to live at the camp alone and they will not be allowed to leave the place till 30th of December. All the expenses of the camp like food, accommodation and medicines etc. will be taken care of by the members of Rotary Club of Udaipur, Heritage.

At the end of the camp there will be a counseling session for family members of the patients with the team of the doctors who treated them for the 10 days.

Dr. P.C Jain, honorary member of the club said, “I have been working on these kinds of cases for a while now. Families really get distressed because of such cases. Drug addiction has been the cause of many divorces too but without family support a patient cannot be cured.”

India is the only authorized country which grows and supply opium to the world for medical use. Government of India allows growing of opium only under license and defined area. The excess production is used for drug addiction.

Due to tourism some belt of Udaipur region is highly infected by drug addiction, approximately 15000 to 20000 drug addicts are there in the region. 1.3 lakhs accidents have been registered due drug consumption.
