Udaipur, April 15, 2025 - The general body meeting of the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) was held yesterday, April 16, at the UDA auditorium under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner (DC) Pragya Kevlarmani, with Udaipur District Collector Namit Mehta and UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain in attendance. During the meeting, the budget for the financial year 2025–26 was approved, and various agenda items were discussed and decisions were taken.
UDA Secretary Hemendra Nagar, OSD (Officer on Special Duty) Jitendra Ojha, and officials from UDA and other departments were also present.
DC Kevlarmani said that for the financial year 2025-26, a total amount of Rs 931.66 crore has been earmarked for both income and expenditure. Out of the expenditure provision, Rs 669.42 crore has been allocated for development works. This includes Rs 316.94 crore for previously approved and on-going work expected to be completed in 2025-26, and Rs 352.48 crore for newly proposed work in the same year.
Traffic Ease and Infrastructure Development
UDA Commissioner Jain mentioned that special focus was given to smooth and safe traffic along with infrastructure development in the financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25. Road widening projects are on-going from Badgaon to Kavita, Sisarma to Nandeshwar and from Jadaav Nursery to Eklingpura. In continuation, a Great Separator will be constructed at Balicha Junction (entry from Ahmedabad side) with Rs 10 crore allocated as per the approved DPR. Additionally, Rs 6 crore has been allocated for widening the existing two-lane road and four-lane underpass on State Highway 32 between Pratap Nagar and Balicha.
Similarly, in accordance with the Chief Minister’s budget announcement for 2025-26, Rs 7 crore has been allocated for implementing the approved DPR for the sewerage line network in the Navratan Complex area. Rs 7.5 crore has been set aside for expansion and renovation of the existing Ayad Bridge between Pratap Nagar and Balicha.
An amount of Rs 6 crore has been allocated for constructing railway underbridges in Udaipur city, Nokha and Umarda. Rs 2 crore will be used to develop Ramgiri Hill and Badgaon as an Oxygen Hub and tourist destination. For the development of peripheral areas of Fateh Sagar Lake - including construction of a pathway on Rani Road, road strengthening and utility shifting - Rs 3 crore has been allocated.
UDA has made a provision of Rs 10 crore for internal infrastructure such as roads, drainage, electrification and water pipelines in newly-approved residential schemes in Kaladwas and Nohra revenue villages.
Road Construction
In the budget, Rs 63.21 crore has been provisioned for the construction and strengthening of 20 roads. This includes:
Additionally, Rs 23.70 crore has been allocated for nine drainage construction works, and Rs 6 crore for the development and beautification of intersections and junctions, including landscaping on main roads as needed.
Welcome Gates
To enhance the city’s aesthetics and create a favourable impression on tourists visiting throughout the year, well-planned welcome gates will be constructed on main entry points to the city. A budget provision of Rs 4 crore has been made for this. These gates will be at:
Murals and Artworks
A budget of Rs 1 crore has been earmarked for murals and artistic work at various city locations. Local artists will be given opportunities to showcase their styles, creating a distinct cultural identity for Udaipur.
Lake Cleaning, Beautification
The cleaning of Fateh Sagar is going on through labour engaged by a contractor after tendering. Rs 3 crore has been allocated for this purpose. Under the development and strengthening of sports facilities, Rs 10 crore will be spent on expanding facilities at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon.
