Language has no relation with religion: Dr. Nand Chaturvedi

On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Department of Hindi, UCSSH organized a lecture by a famous Poet and Critic Dr. Nand Chaturvedi, today at the seminar Hall of University College of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Professor Madhav Hada, HOD, Dept. of Hindi, welcomed the guests and announced the topic of the lecture. He said that, the department has also organized Poem recitation, essay writing and quiz competitions. Winners will be awarded with certificates and prizes.

In the lecture, Dr. Chaturvedi said, “Language has no relation with any religion. We are doing no favor by dividing the language into religions. Language is not apart from the masses, the language which is accepted by the people develops further very quickly. And Hindi is the language of the people themselves”.

Speaking on the topic “Bazar aur Shuddhata Ke Beech Hindi”, the reverent scholar said, “Language, in present times is in a tussle between nation’s villages and cities. The rural language and terminology is losing its roots, as the influence of urban lifestyle and cities’ accent is taking over the command on language, which is not a good sign”.

He further said that, nowadays the difference between poems and advertisements is coming to an end. Ads are becoming poems and poems are almost like ads.

Dr. Nand stressed that, “No language opposes the other, but one language creates the other language”.

In this context, he appreciated the efforts of Ram Manohar Lohiya and Chatar Singh Bawji.

Special Guest of the occasion, Dr. Vijay Kulshreshtha, said, “We need to be more sensitive towards our language. And we also, need to put in efforts for larger acceptance and greater practice of the language”.

The program was governed by Sharad Shristava, Dean, UCSSH. In his speech, he talked about the role of Hindi Cinema in the popularity of Hindi Language.
