Udaipur Gets New Lakefront Access as Missing Link Road to Open
Udaipur, September 11, 2025 - The construction of the missing link road and drainage from Haridas Ji Ki Magri to Pichola Ring Road has been completed. Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) Commissioner Rahul Jain said that the project was completed with an approved budget of Rs 91.83 lakh, which covered CC pavement and drainage construction.
With this road now built, Haridas Ji Ki Magri and surrounding areas can connect directly to the previously constructed Pichola Ring Road. This will provide local residents easy access to the lakefront area for daily walks and recreation.
Jain added that, earlier, owing to the absence of a planned connecting road, it was difficult to maintain the Ring Road, leading to issues like littering which will now be under control.
He further said that with the missing link road now complete, not only can the Ring Road be better maintained, but future development along the lake will be carried out in consultation with the public and with attention to the lake's ecosystem.
The Commissioner informed that the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, will inaugurate the new link road on Sunday, September 14, at 3:30 pm.
The inaugural ceremony will be chaired by Cabinet Minister Babulal Kharadi. Other dignitaries present will include MP Manna Lal Rawat and Rajya Sabha MP Chunnilal Garasiya as special guests. Also attending will be City MLA Tarachand Jain, Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani, Zila Pramukh Mamta Kunwar and Udaipur District Collector Namit Mehta.
