Udaipur NGO represents India at UN
Udaipur based foundation Deerghayu was invited to represent India for a high level meeting on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in the meeting held in the United Nations, New York on 19 and 20 September 2011.

The world leaders gathered to discuss the rise and prevention of non communicable diseases; Cancer, Diabetes, Hypertension and Heart diseases. From India, Udaipur based Deerghayu Foundation participated as the sole representative in the field of education for prevention and management of cardio metabolic diseases.
Anand Chaturvedi, founder of Dheergayu Foundation represented India in the meeting with other world leaders and many of the world’s prestigious health organizations.
Anand ( in photo above) presented the findings of various surveys conducted by the foundation in the seven districts of Rajasthan; he also delivered a speech on the novel approach adopted by Deerghayu Foundation in combining the world’s latest health education tools and customizing those in the context of India.
It is noteworthy that National Diabetes Education Program, a joint effort of leading US agencies has named Deerghayu Foundation its partner in fight against diabetes, the only NGO of India to receive this honor.
“The work done by the foundation is now being considered for the benefit of the non resident Indians in US, UK and other countries,” says Anand Chaturvedi.
Chaturvedi also presented Deerghayu Foundation’s new initiative H.E.L.P ( Health Education Learning Programme) that educates school children in prevention of cardio metabolic diseases which includes education of patients of diabetes and hypertension and an innovative curriculum to create a new team of diabetes, hypertension educators.
Anand Chaturvedi told that our programmes are receiving worldwide recognition after the meeting at United Nations.
Dr. Garima Chaturvedi, one of the founders of the Deerghyau Foundation expresses her pleasure for being part of the United Nations high level meeting which was represented by her husband Anand Chaturvedi.
While talking to UT, Dr. Garima ( in photo above) told, “The four non communicable diseases Cancer, Diabetes, Hypertension and Heart related ailments cause 4 out of 5 deaths worldwide and rise of these diseases have put the world economies and social structure at a huge peril.”
The survey conducted by the foundation discovered that 4 out of 5 diabetic people do not know the complications of the disease.
Dr. Garima MBBS from RNT Medical College and MD internal medicines from Baltimore USA is largely working in rural and older city areas to the cause of spreading education to combat the speedy rise of lifestyle diseases.
