Though late but it’s a frozen start of winter in Udaipur, as mercury dropped down to 5.2 degrees Celsius in just one day (on 12 December).

Till 10th Dec. only hint of the season was there but this sudden change in climatic conditions has surprised everyone, according to weather department the last night was recorded as the coldest night of the season, whereas in other parts of the state temperature slipped below freezing point.

On Monday morning temperature of the city recorded at Dabok was as low as 5 degrees for the previous night and the city was bearing 5.2 minimum, while maximum was 24 degree cross city.

Udaipurites tried every way to keep them warm, some took help of bone fire; some relied on heavy woollen cloths, jackets, mufflers and so on, whereas demand of winter food like Makki ki Rab and fruits such as sweet potato has risen.

Mount Abu was reported 0.5 below freezing point; Churu was marked with 3 degree followed by Chittorgarh with 4.5 and ShriGanganagar with 4.9 degree Celsius. The temperature recorded in the other parts of Rajasthan is as follows: Bardmer (7.4), Jaipur (7.4), Jodhpur (8.1), Ajmer (9.0), Kota (9.2) and Bikaner (9.5) on Monday.

The Meteorological Department said that on going conditions will continue in the city for 4 or more coming days and if sky remains clear temperature may go down to 4 degree Celsius.
