UMESL to Pay Homage to Martyred Indian SoldierUdaipur Ex services League (UMESL) has decided to observe 7th Dec. as HUTATMA DIWAS to commemorate and remember the veteran military martyrs of Indian Armed Forces who laid down their lives on Indian or foreign battlegrounds during all wars and military operations under the Indian, Commonwealth or UNO flag.

December 7 is also observed as Flag Day, a day dedicated towards collection of funds from people of India for the welfare of the Indian Armed Forces personnel, in India since 1949.

UMESL to Pay Homage to Martyred Indian SoldierAccording to Brig (Dr) C. P. Joshi (Retd), “Victory days for Indo- Pak wars, Sino-Indian war and Kargil war and so on are celebrated in India but we forget to observe a dignified memorial ceremony to commemorate the departed souls.”

Therefore UMESL has decided to pay a homage to all those who laid down their lives for the sleep of others.

The event will be organized in the form of a simple and dignified ceremony on the lawns of District Soldier’s Board Guest House, Madhuban at 9 am sharp on 7 Dec 2011.

The 20 minutes ceremony includes hoisting of National flag, brief Introduction of Memorial Day, presenting wreath at the altar erected in memory of “Martyred Indian Soldier” followed by dispersal. There will be no seating arrangement for the ceremony.

This year’s observance will be dedicated to Late Major Shaitan Singh, Param Veer Chakra (Kumaon Regiment) and Late CQMH Abdul Hameed, Param Veer Chakra (Grenadiers Regiment).

However, UMESL proposes to establish this as an annual ritual to honor those who laid their lives in line of duty in all previous wars/ operations irrespective of victory or loss.

The League requests all Civilian patriots, Local Garrison Units and NCC organizations to join the veterans in the morning of 7 Dec. at the appointed place in their appropriate uniforms with medals.

Moreover, a Pension Adalat will be held on 26 -27 Dec. in Udaipur to resolve issues of grievances on the spot by high ranking PCDA (P) Allahabad and Pension Paying Banks. UMESL feels grateful and welcomes this decision which will prove beneficial to veteran soldiers.
