A woman tried to commit suicide by jumping into Fatehsagar lake. She was in a severe depression since a long time.

35 year old Chandrakala Mali w/o Shantilal Mali tried to commit suicide by jumping into Fatehsagar lake yesterday. She had left home in the morning without informing anyone. Her family members had filed a missing report in Pratap Nagar police station. Later yesterday evening she reached Fatehsagar around 7, walked upto the third chatri and suddenly jumped into the lake. Two young men who were taking a stroll at the promenade alerted people by shouting and jumped into the lake to rescue the woman. In the mean time, the crowd at the promenade informed MM Travels, the boating company, and a boat that was already having passengers in the lake was immediately sent to the spot. Boat driver Bheru jumped in the lake while the young men were struggling to save the life of the woman along with their own.

People at the paal made a rope of clothes as part of efforts to save the drowning woman. The people in the boat first saved the woman and then rescued the young men as well with the help of  tubes. The women passengers in the boat helped in saving the victim by taking out water from her stomach. Only once the woman gained consciousness did everyone breathed a sigh of relief. A rescue team that reached there had boat operator Ashraf, divers Chota Hela, Noor Mohammed, Gani Mohammed and Ehsaan Mohammed. But the woman was pulled out of the lake before they reached the spot.

Meanwhile police had reached the site. The woman was taken to MB hospital and all the police stations were instructed to find the woman’s family who reached the spot after some time. Chandrakala is said to be in a state of severe depression since a long time. Reasons for her depressive state of mind have not been revealed but that is the only reason why she jumped into the lake.

It has also been informed that an aged lady present at the pal at that time gave away her saree to be used as a rope to save the drowning woman.
