Workshop on Radiation Hazard

A one day regional workshop on “Radiation Hazard and Protection” was held today at the Directorate of Broadcasting Education of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur. The Workshop was attended by more than 200 prominent people from all over the state including many well-known radiation experts, radio technicians, doctors, etc.

Member of Parliament, Raghuveer Singh Meena was the Chief Guest of the program.  While addressing the workshop, Meena said that doctors should accept the technological evolution happening in the world of medical sciences to save human life.

Head of R.N.T Medical College Dr. S.K Kaushik said that radio diagnosis holds a vital role while treating many syndromes and illness.  Pointing towards its drawback, radiations are very harmful for pregnant women and children; he requested technicians and doctors to be responsive to the ill effects of radiation threat.

Dr. Kaushik compelled all attendees to keep themselves updated on all new happenings going around in this era of “Science of Imagining”.

Indicating the importance of radio diagnosis, Dr. Kaushik also said “out of Rs.13 crore, Rs.6.5 crore have been given to department of Diagnosis in the present budget of R.N.T Medical College.

Dr. A.A. Chougle, keynote speaker of the program said that to prevent any disease, two-third of the health inspection procedures are depend upon x-ray, hence radiographers have to play a significant part to prevent from the ill effects of radiations and not only technicians but patients and their relatives should be aware too.

He said that courses based on latest research and refresher courses will be introduced in the state to induce more proficiency in radiographers.

Administrator of M.B Hospital Dr. D.P Singh has also shared his views on radiation and its hazards.  Famous doctors, ward councilors and politicians including Dr. M.L Meena, Manoj Saxena, Mohanlal Audichya, Bharat Ameta (ward councilor), Dr. Y.N. Verma, Dr. H.S. Bhui, Dr. S.K Dangayach, Dr. Kishan Dhanak, Dr. N.K. Kadam were also present in the workshop.
