After a long time, an original Bhoot ki Picture, devoid of almost all the old tricks, such as havelis, khandars, tantriks, haunting statues, revenge by atma, jungles, ghostly flat and other run of the mill stuffs that have been used by our horror film makers since times unknown, is in the theaters.

Even without the tried and tested horror formula, Ek Thi Dayan had an eerie feeling about it. But the creepiness ends and that too very ridiculously in the climax which leaves you wondering why so silly end to this refreshingly novel scary story?

Ek Thi Dayan, directed by debutant Kannan Iyer, has a lot of potential in its genre. Thanks to the director Kannan, writers Mukul Sharma and Vishal Bhardwaj, superb actors Emraan Hashmi, Konkana Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi and the whole cast including the two kids who contributed significantly in making it a great flick.

But the silly climax doesn’t mean that the Dayan is unwatchable. In fact, it is a must watch for Hindi horror movie lovers.

As they say, horror stories should not be described much, so without mentioning anything about the story, I would suggest the readers to go for the movie because it’s different and you don’t get to see beautiful Dayans every other day.
