End of mal-maas and beginning of auspicious occasions tomorrow will see temples and homes performing various religious rites which are prohibited during mal-maas. Today Lohri is being celebrated by the Punjabi families all over the country with bhangra and gidda in full zoom. Tomorrow on 14th January Makar sankranti will be celebrated by the entire nation where the beginning of auspicious time as forecasted by the pandits is 7:40 a.m. which will last the whole day.

People will perform poojas after which they will distribute til(sesame seeds), Jaggery, woollen clothes, blankets amongst the poor people as charity. This day also marks the beginning of auspicious timings for weddings, house warming, shaving off head etc. The famous city temples Jagdish temple, Shrinath Ji temple, Asthal mandir will once again witness people in queues for darshan and the deity idols will be seen dressed and decorated. Married women pray for the long life of their husbands and worship the Sun God.

To mark the festival, children will be playing sitolia and kites will be flown tomorrow in full vigour. Shopkeeprs have already stocked a variety of kites and faces can be seen glowing with happiness.
