Ever imagined yourself in a world without music? I did. And you know what? I felt nothing, yeah nothing. Tie your years hard enough to block the sounds coming from all around. How do you feel? Well, just the same as I did. You wouldn’t feel a thing. You actually become lifeless. Blame it on the creators of music, human mind feels music in everything. And when there is no such thing, you feel lifeless. Actually every sound has music in it. Every single sound whether a laugh or a cry, a screech or a whisper, a thump or a soothing pat…everything has music in it. That is how we have trained our minds to live, love, cry, laugh, sniff or even silence…every sound is associated with music.

Without music, defining a sea or the love of a beloved becomes meaningless. Every sip of wine seems as bitter as quinine and every morsel becomes bland. The beating of hearts makes you dance only because the heart beats in rhythm, rhythm which is result of love which again falls in the category of music and also gives rise to music. Even anger has music in it. The “Taandav” of Lord Shiva is an explicit example of this. When God can’t dance without music, how can we humans even think of a music less life?

Basically music lies in your thoughts, or let us say it has been so deeply fed into our system that we walk and talk music. Maybe that is why Shakespeare’s lines… “if music be the food of love play on”, fit into just every bit of life.

There is music for everyone, every occasion. Be it sadness or cheer, music knows its way in there. So since we are all bidding farewell to 2016 with musical nights(what would parties and fun be without music) and also welcoming 2017 with music again, let us pledge to invite more music into our lives and spread more tunes to spread love and laughter and also peace because that is what the world needs.
