It's a World Dance Day
This day was introduced in 1982 by a committee of ITI (International Theatre Institute) in collaboration with the UNESCO to basically solemnize the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre who was the creator of modern ballet.
‘Dance’ is one word that can set anybody’s feet pulsating and swaying to its rhythm. Everybody likes to dance in their own way.
While some extra-ordinary dancers love to flaunt it publicly, the others like to whirl privately around. We dance when we are happy, in a mood to celebrate or let’s say we are also dancing every day with the various rhythms in our life, sometimes on high notes or sometimes low.
Since dancing has been an integral part of human culture, there is certainly a day to mark its presence too. World Dance Day, which is celebrated every year on 29th April to revel in the universality of this art form.
This day was introduced in 1982 by a committee of ITI (International Theatre Institute) in collaboration with the UNESCO to basically solemnize the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre who was the creator of modern ballet. Since it has been actively celebrated around the world. Every year an eminent and outstanding choreographer or dancer gives a message at the UNESCO which is circulated throughout the world.
Dancing had always been a part of our culture too. In fact, every state in our country has their own dance forms. Be it Ghoomar of Rajasthan, Bhangra of Punjab or Dandiya of Gujarat. Every dance form has a unique feature that differentiates it from others.
Apart from the enjoyment and fun it provides, dancing can prove to be a great remedy for many problems persisting in our busy lives. Researches show that dancing is one of the best way of not only shedding ounces of weight, but psychologically it is a proven remedy to escape from stress, depression and tension. Thus making a person feel less fatigue and relaxed.
So whenever you are bored, cross or feel dejected with your life, grab a room, turn on some good music and begin drooling with the beats. And in the midst of that grooving you’ll feel less feeble and more tranquilized.
So on this World Dance Day, try to take time out for yourself and get set to jive, for everyone amongst us can surely move it like Jagger.
