MODI’s Outfit: Why an issue?

MODI, Narendra Damodardas Modi, is the Prime Minister of India. If he is wearing a decent good looking outfit why people are making it a big issue?

I accept the fact that being a middle class person we do not want our government to spend so much on them. But again, think over it this way that Modi is OUR Prime Minister, he is representing OUR country, he is representing US. So don’t you want to look good on your world tour?

And let me show you the reality of our middle-class-life-way. Most of us live a mediocre life but even we want to go branded when it comes to a ‘date’; even we want to wear expensive clothes and look good when we are going to some ‘party’, we want to wear a nice cuffed shirt when it comes to a ‘meeting’.

Let’s just take a moment and ask ourselves why to waste so much money on a party/date/meeting which won’t even last more than 3-4 hours? Why not wear a simple khadi shirt and dhoti or a simple cotton sari?

The first immediate answer that will pop in everybody’s mind is ‘Because we want to put a nice impression on others or because we want to show people our luxury/prestige/strength/confidence’. Exactly, that’s what Modi is showing; he is showing India’s strength, India’s confidence, India’s luxury and India’s prestige.

Being an Indian citizen I would want the person who is representing my country globally to create that first impression that will last forever. And that’s what MODI is doing. He has magic in his words, not a single country Modi has been to is a foe to us.

Every developed nation is willing to invest in India, help India grow. And from what I have seen in the past 5-6 years no political leader has been able to create such a gigantic effect globally in such a little time. So when a person is doing so much can’t we just allow him to wear a nice outfit?

Would we have greeted President Obama if he would have attended India’s Republic Day wearing a simple t-shirts which says “I love USA”? No. All news channel and in fact everyone was appreciating the way President Obama and The First Lady represented themselves gracefully in our country.

And I think we should carry the same positive attitude and enthusiasm when it comes to our Prime Minister, because whatever he is doing he is doing it for us. Let’s just enjoy the way he makes India look more handsome in front of the whole world.
