Ashima Chibber is not a new name in the film industry. After acting as an Assistant Director in movies such as “Chak De”, “Pyaar Ke Side Effects” and “Rockstar”, she has come up with her own fun filled, fultoo comedy flick – Mere Dad Ki Maruti.
‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’ in the backdrop of Chandigarh, centers on a brand new Maruti Ertiga, a family of ‘Khullers’ amidst a Punjabi wedding and the one who loses that Maruti – Sameer (Saqib Saleem).
The twists and dialogues of the movie make you giggle throughout its span.
‘Danger’ Dad – Tej (Ram Kapoor) has brought a Maruti Ertiga for presenting it as a wedding present to his daughter, whereas ‘Mischievous’ son – Sameer (Saqib Saleem) takes it for a fun ride to impress ‘Chandigarh ki Shakira’ Jazzleen (Rhea Chakraborty) and loses it. Now the quest of finding the car is what entails the whole movie.
The pivotal characters of Sameer, Gattu (Prabal Panjabi), Jazzlin and Tej are well cast. Saqib Saleem and Prabal Panjabi have previously acted together in YRF’s Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge and bring the same taste with yet more fun into this one too. Rhea did not have much to do, except being a bombshell, but still impresses.
The music is average, but ‘Punjabiyan Di Battery’ is already a hit, and to add some more Punjabi tadka you’ll have one hot-yet-amusing number – Hip Hip Hurrah.
It’s a kind of a movie, which you cherish watching without thinking of what to take out from it. It gives you funny moments to laugh your guts out and reminds you that there is still much left to be experimented with family dramas or comedies.
