Lord Ganesha! Epitome of Wisdom, Personification of fertility, Embodiment of Prosperity, Destroyer of Obstacles, Charismatic Wish Fulfiller, Beloved Pot Bellied Elephant God and the list goes on, on and on…… Our ancient and rich Indian mythological stories about our Gods and Goddesses continue to mesmerize us and everything about Lord Ganesha including his birth, his elephant head, his miracles capture a significant place in our mythology, in our lives and offer deep insight into our cultural and religious practices.
Our millennial generation may find it difficult to fathom that we worship a deity who rides on a mouse, who has a pot belly and who has an elephant’s head. Although Ganesha does not conform to the dimensions of a typical God with toned, athletic and masculine physique, he looks pretty awesome and cutest to the core. Moreover, there is a unique, intriguing story behind every facet of our beloved Lord that explains every whys and hows about him.
We invoke Lord Ganesha before beginning of any task. so that he can take care of all the obstacles that may come across the path. He is akin to the powerful Anti-virus in our PC who not only prevents attacks from Viruses, Trojans’ but also do troubleshooting to keep our problems at bay. What is the need of the hour is to install Lord Ganesha in our Life’s system and do the periodic scanning so that we deliver optimal performance all the time.
There is something very fascinating that captivates our interest about the pot belly of Lord Ganesha. It symbolizes the prosperity and wealth. In today’s world, where people are so fitness freak and spend hours in the Gym to get that zero figure and six pack Abs, Our Lord Ganesha gives message to purify one soul and get rid of Kgs of Ego and evil and feel lighter in the inward journey of life. Moreover, it also gives others with those extra Kgs, a reason to smile as they have something in common with our beloved God.
The celebrations of the Lord Ganesha begin at the time when the rainfall starts waning across the country and fields are engulfed in the lush greenery that symbolizes the fertility. We have had green revolutions and many more advancements in the agriculture that attempted to domesticate the Mother Nature. However, in the process to commercialize the produce, our land is treated with many harmful chemicals, pesticides which eventually lead to infertility. Let’s get organic and more nature loving. I am sure taking care of our Nature, and Environment would appease our Elephant God more that any Modaks and Ladoos.
We don’t need any Facebook, Twitter or Whatsapp to follow our Friendly God Ganesha. Let’s invoke our Ganesha within ourselves to unravel his infinite power and unlimited potential to make this world a better place. That way we can effortlessly post on his Wall, Tweets our wishes to him and Whatsapp him.
