PRADEEP- Man of Words: An Eulogy Tribute on his 100th Birth Anniversary

It has been said “Great and pious souls are sent rarely by almighty on the earth to mold and influence the thoughts of individuals.” (haazaron saal nargis apne noor pe rooti hai tab ja ke hota hai ek deedavar paida”)

Such being said in context to Kavi Pradeep certainly seems to be very true. From where should I begin and from where should I end?

He was been a part of every freedom fighter moreover as a companion during Quit India Movement and India -Sino war. With his influential lyrics he had touched almost everyone’s hearts. His famous and incredible lyrics of the song “Aye mere watan ke logo” had aroused a wave of patriotism and bravery among each and every Indian citizen and soldier.

Certainly on listening to this very song patriotism is a must that is felt by us. In fact, this song makes blood to gush out in every vein, the outer ambiance gets sanctify with the ode of bravery, beats of song stimulates thunder from every corridor of heart and demands the count to be paid by us as a devotion towards our nation.

He had been an inspirational mentor who had curved the freedom of independence. He was always there – solid and secure to pen down for country, rather he became recognizable by his ferocious move when he penned down the lyrics of song “Door hato aye duniya walo ye Hindustan humara hai”.

He had been a ray of motivation and inspiration to all the Indian soldiers and citizens by his charismatic lyrics. He was very down to earth person; man with humble and innocent nature and with his different attire of writing he had won the hearts of many.

“Emotions of patriotism are dead twigs until words of patriotism are pen down by this noble soul.”

How do I begin? How do I end? He is none other than winner of Dadabhai Phalke lifetime achievement award ‘Kavi Pradeep’ who was born on 6th Feb 1915 and died on 11th Dec 1998.

This noble soul had contributed a lot in India’s dream of getting freedom by his devotion in writing lyrics of patriotic songs and poems. Certainly with layers of time we now might have forgotten his magnificent and pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle.

For me he was beyond being a writer, lyricist, and an inspirational soul whose entire charismatic work is a lesson which pays a tribute to our great nation. His humble, wonderful nature and of course his lyrics serenade every soul. His contribution in form of geet, bhajans and poems are gracefully gratifying. His mellifluous lyrics are meaningful and are a must to state that in real sense he is a pious, pure, nugget who devoted his entire life in the noble cause for country.

His lyrics were full of valor (Aye mere watan ke logo), full of sentiments (Toot gaye hai mala), full of self- liberation (Pinjare ke panchi re). His incredible works include many but some of them are “Hum laye hai toofan se kashti nikal ke” and “Aao bachon tumhe dikhaye jhanki Hindustan ki.”

In a true sense he was a “Nightingale of Garden of Lyrics” and true poet who gave lyrics to millions of lips. Moreover, his incredible lyrics of a song in film “KISMET” made groundbreaking efforts since it came at the time of Quit India Movement. The country was in strife with all the national leaders in prison at that very moment.

Even his patriotic zeal continued with renewed vigor after independence and for this, he was conferred with the honor of “Rashtriya Kavi.”

In his loving memories I would end with a quotation:

“Life brings tears, smiles and memories. With time the tears dry, the smile fades but the memories last forever.” Kavi Pradeep, a real hero, a star who will always shine.
