That little rag picker was selling Tricolor flag with great enthusiasm at traffic signal this morning and it seemed that he was pretty happy about our “Happy Independence Day” as he was making good bucks today and his idea of independence was freedom from hunger for a day.

After 70 years of Independence, is there a freedom for everyone in the country? In more than one ways, the answer is Big Yes but that is only a half truth.

No doubt, India has made exponential progress in all the fields including Science, Technology, Education, Agriculture, e.t.c. and also emerged as one of the world’s best democratic country that truly lives in its spirit the concept of Unity in Diversity with so many languages, religions, and castes.

Even though a lot has been achieved in past 70 years, there is a great deal still needs to be done. The Onus lies on all of us to not only being aware of our rights but also take due care of our Duties. After Independence, Our policy makers had done a stupendous job of forming our great Constitution keeping in mind the rights of every citizen of the nation. However, the time has come to fine tune the flaws of our Democracy so that people don’t feel alienated in their own country and miscreants don’t take undue advantage of our great democracy for fulfilling their selfish means.

Let’s hope we get freedom to live and let live, follow our dreams, overcome our weaknesses, bring peace and harmony and contribute in making a better world for everyone.

Let every girl of the country feel the freedom from Eve teasing and Stalking. We all get the freedom to do whatever we can to ensure all such cases of Nirbhaya, Damini and Kundu’s would become history from now on.

Let’s not forget that someone is battling up to -89 degrees temperature at LOC so that you and I can enjoy the liberty of sitting comfortably in our homes and simply wish Happy Independence Day.

Before we go out and shout “Krishna Kanhaya Lal ki Jai” this Janmashtami , let’s spare a thought or at least a prayer for Martyrs and Soldiers (do read about Chetan Chita). Don’t u think even Lord Krishna would have been happier to do so.
